China Launches First National Standard Pilot for AI Agent Interoperability
China has officially launched its first national standard pilot program for AI Agent interconnection (GB/Z 185-2026) in Beijing. The initiative is backed by 18 major organizations, including Meituan, Didi, and Lenovo, and features the release of the open-source Agent Interconnection Protocol (AIP) V2.1 on AtomGit. This standard addresses the critical industry challenge of 'information silos' where AI agents from different vendors cannot communicate or verify identities. By establishing a unified framework, it paves the way for cross-platform collaboration and large-scale deployment of AI agents. The GB/Z 185-2026 standard covers the entire lifecycle of AI agents, including identity codes, capability description, discovery, and tool calling. The newly released AIP V2.1 serves as a decentralized communication protocol to handle secure access, authentication, and transaction settlement.

AI Agents are autonomous software entities designed to perform tasks, make decisions, and interact with users or other systems.
