China Integrates 31 Provinces into National Unified Computing Power Monitoring Network
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced that all 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities have joined the national integrated computing power platform. As of June, China's intelligent computing (AI compute) capacity reached 2,185 EFLOPS, representing a 177% year-over-year growth. This unified national network addresses long-standing challenges in China's AI infrastructure, such as fragmented resource distribution, regional data silos, and inefficient computing utilization. By facilitating cross-regional scheduling, China optimizes national compute allocation to support large-scale AI development. The national platform currently aggregates over 10,000 registered enterprise users, lists more than 2,000 computing products, and connects over 300 large language models. Infrastructure expansion also includes over 70 high-speed transmission channels linking major compute hubs and approval for 17 regional interconnect nodes.
## BACKGROUND
In China's digital infrastructure framework, computing power is generally divided into general computing (standard server workloads), supercomputing (scientific research), and intelligent computing (AI neural network training and inference). EFLOPS (ExaFLOPS) measures performance at one quintillion (10^18) floating-point operations per second. National compute scheduling allows workloads to be routed from high-cost urban hubs to resource-abundant inland regions.
