China Exposes 14 Cases of Online Rumors Targeting Huawei's HIMA

China's Ministry of Public Security and CCTV have exposed 14 typical cases of malicious online rumors targeting enterprises, all of which reportedly targeted Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA). The crackdown is part of the "Clean Internet 2026" special campaign to protect corporate rights and combat online disinformation. This case highlights how online "water armies" are increasingly leveraging AI tools and platform algorithms to generate fake negative content, such as fabricated smart driving accidents, to profit from traffic. It underscores the rising security and reputational risks that major tech and automotive brands face in the digital era. The suspects fabricated smart driving accidents and used AI to generate fake car crash videos to trigger platform algorithms for traffic payouts based on shares and comments. Police in Yantai, Shandong, previously arrested nine suspects and shut down over 8,000 accounts involved in these operations.
