China Debuts First Wall-Climbing Embodied AI Robot and Six-Armed "Xuanjia" Robot
China has unveiled its first wall-climbing embodied AI special-purpose robot designed for industrial maintenance, alongside a multi-tasking six-armed robot named "Xuanjia" developed by Sazhi Intelligent. The robots were showcased at the Smart Robot Application Skills Exhibition in Beijing to demonstrate their readiness for real-world industrial deployment. These developments mark a significant step in transitioning embodied AI from laboratories to hazardous industrial environments, such as chemical tanks and ship hulls. By replacing humans in high-risk tasks like welding and grinding at heights, these robots can improve safety and operational efficiency. The wall-climbing robot combines dual humanoid arms with magnetic adhesion and large-model intelligence, allowing operators to control it remotely using VR headsets. Meanwhile, the "Xuanjia" robot features a smart brain that coordinates its six arms to perform high-precision tasks like screw assembly and cable plugging simultaneously.
## BACKGROUND
Embodied AI refers to artificial intelligence systems embedded within physical bodies that can perceive, reason, and act in the physical world. Industrial maintenance on large steel structures, such as oil tanks and ships, traditionally relies on magnetic climbing robots to carry heavy payloads on vertical surfaces. Integrating AI and remote VR control into these platforms allows for more autonomous and complex manipulation tasks.
