China Builds Over 70 Embodied AI Training Facilities to Boost Robotics
According to a report by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, China has built and deployed over 70 embodied AI training facilities as of June, with 46 more planned or under construction. These facilities provide physical environments to support real-world data collection, model training, and system validation for robots. This rapid infrastructure expansion highlights China's commitment to accelerating the deployment of embodied AI and robotics in real-world industries. By establishing physical training grounds, developers can gather high-quality physical-world data, which is crucial for bridging the gap between simulation and real-world deployment. The facilities span over half of China's provincial-level regions, with 86% of them featuring industrial manufacturing scenarios. The site selection logic is shifting from traditional talent and capital hubs to lower-tier cities that offer better access to real-world scenarios and operational efficiency.
## BACKGROUND
Embodied AI refers to artificial intelligence systems integrated into physical bodies, like robots, that interact with the real world using sensors and actuators. Training these systems requires vast amounts of physical-world data and testing environments to ensure they can safely and effectively perform tasks in complex, dynamic settings.
