Chery Debuts Proprietary Ziwei Automotive Chip Lineup and Enters Mass Production
At the 2026 Chery Global Innovation Conference, Chery unveiled its proprietary 'Ziwei' automotive chip lineup, which includes three series and five packaging types. Notably, the C100 central computing chip has entered mass production on 8-inch wafers. This launch marks a significant strategic move for traditional automakers into advanced semiconductor design, reducing supply chain dependency and cutting production costs by over 30% through localized 8-inch wafer manufacturing. The Ziwei C100 central computing chip delivers dual-CPU processing power of 1000KDMIPS, dual-NPU performance of 2400TOPS, and 600GB/s memory bandwidth tailored for 100B physical world models. Additionally, the S1500 silicon carbide (SiC) chip supports a 1500V voltage class with a 1450A output current capacity.
## BACKGROUND
Physical AI refers to artificial intelligence systems designed to understand, navigate, and interact with the physical world, often deployed in robotics and smart vehicles. Silicon carbide (SiC) power chips are advanced wide-bandgap semiconductors that offer superior efficiency, higher voltage tolerance, and better thermal management compared to traditional silicon chips, making them critical for high-voltage electric vehicle powertrains.
