Cainiao Launches Global 3-Day Delivery Service for Cross-Border E-Commerce
Cainiao has officially launched its "Global 3-Day Delivery" service, achieving door-to-door delivery within three calendar days across 15 core international routes, including connections between China, Europe, and the Middle East. The service leverages AI automation and optimized logistics networks to offer these speeds at less than half the cost of traditional international express services. This launch lowers the barrier for small and medium-sized cross-border merchants to access rapid global shipping, which was previously only affordable via premium express services. It accelerates the transition of global cross-border logistics into an hour-based tracking and delivery era, intensifying competition in the e-commerce logistics sector. The service relies on AI-driven automation at Cainiao's South China super hub, smart customs clearance at over 100 ports, and AI routing dispatch for last-mile delivery. For a 0.5 kg parcel sent to Europe, the pricing is less than half of standard international express rates.
## BACKGROUND
Cainiao, the logistics arm of Alibaba, has been building its global smart logistics network since before 2017, starting with budget options like the "$5 10-Day Delivery" service. It has since expanded its infrastructure with global e-Hubs (such as in Hong Kong and Europe) and introduced the "Global 5-Day Delivery" service in 2023, which now covers 14 countries.
