Cadillac XT5 PHEV with Momenta R7 World Model to Launch September 7
Cadillac will officially launch the new XT5 PHEV on September 7, making it the first mass-produced luxury hybrid SUV to integrate the Momenta R7 world model for smart driving. The vehicle features a dual-motor plug-in hybrid system powered by an Ultium 5C battery and a roof-mounted LiDAR. The integration of Momenta's R7 world model represents a shift toward "Physical AI" in production vehicles, allowing the autonomous driving system to understand physical laws and motion logic rather than relying on pre-programmed rules. This marks a significant step in bringing advanced AI-driven driver assistance to the luxury hybrid segment. The XT5 PHEV is equipped with a 35.5kWh battery, delivering a CLTC pure electric range of 215km and a comprehensive range of 1,360km. It features an all-road electric Hummingbird chassis, a 1.5T engine, and dual electric motors producing 160kW and 110kW respectively.
## BACKGROUND
Momenta is an autonomous driving company that utilizes a "data flywheel" approach to train its AI models. Its R7 World Model is designed to mimic human understanding of the physical world for safer and more natural autonomous driving. Additionally, the CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) is the standard range metric used in China, which typically yields higher range estimates than Western standards like WLTP or EPA.
