ByteDance's AI assistant Doubao announced an update introducing end-to-end travel services, enabling users to book flights and train tickets, hail rides, and navigate routes using natural language prompts. The update also introduces a dedicated portal offering high-frequency recommendations across transit, hotel accommodation, and local dining. This expansion moves Doubao beyond basic text generation into an actionable AI agent capable of completing real-world transactions directly within conversation. It reflects a growing industry effort to transform LLM-powered chatbots into integrated lifestyle portals that eliminate app-switching. Doubao achieves these capabilities through partnerships with established service providers, including Flight Manager and Gaotie Manager for ticketing, CaoCao Mobility for ride-hailing, and Baidu Maps for real-time navigation. Users can issue natural prompts such as booking a flight from Beijing to Shanghai or hailing a ride to the airport to automatically trigger the backend services.
