ByteDance's Doubao team is reportedly testing a standalone AI personal assistant app named "Xiao Dou," codenamed "Spell." Currently in internal testing, the app extends personal AI agent capabilities built by the Doubao phone assistant team into a dedicated mobile application. Launching a standalone app allows ByteDance to bring its proactive personal AI agent features to a broader mobile audience beyond specific smartphone hardware partnerships.
