ByteDance Reportedly Signs $7 Billion Memory Procurement Deal with CXMT
ByteDance has reportedly signed a five-year, $7 billion memory procurement agreement with Chinese DRAM manufacturer ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT). This massive deal aims to secure a stable supply of memory chips to support ByteDance's expanding AI infrastructure. The deal underscores the soaring demand for AI hardware and highlights China's rapid progress in domestic semiconductor manufacturing. As CXMT expands, it poses a growing challenge to established global memory giants like Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. CXMT is currently building two new factories in Shanghai and Hefei to double its production capacity to over 600,000 wafers per month. The company held a 7.67% global DRAM market share in Q4 2025, and some projections suggest its capacity could surpass Micron's by 2030.
