ByteDance Merges TraeWork and TraeCode into Unified AI Platform TRAE

ByteDance has officially merged TraeWork and TraeCode into a single platform named TRAE, offering a unified entry point for full-lifecycle development. The upgraded platform supports seamless switching between AI Agent mode and IDE mode across desktop, web, and mobile environments. By consolidating task automation and professional coding features into one interface, TRAE connects high-level project ideation directly with deep code editing. This workflow allows beginners to build software prototypes step-by-step while enabling experienced developers to orchestrate multiple AI agents in parallel. Agent mode handles end-to-end task execution and multi-agent coordination, while IDE mode retains a dedicated intelligent development environment for single-project debugging. All user chat history, account status, local data, and commercial credits will be automatically migrated during the current gray-testing phase.

## BACKGROUND

ByteDance originally released TraeWork in mid-2026 as an AI-native workbench focused on office tasks and content generation, while TraeCode was tailored specifically for professional software developers. Modern AI coding assistants are increasingly shifting from simple code completion toward fully integrated platforms capable of managing complete software lifecycles.
