ByteDance Launches Seed STEM Scientist Program to Accelerate AI for Science
ByteDance's Seed Edge team has officially launched the Seed STEM Scientist Program, inviting 100 scholars in STEM fields to collaborate with its AI team. The initiative aims to leverage artificial intelligence to accelerate scientific discoveries and push the boundaries of intelligence. This initiative highlights the growing industry trend of "AI for Science" (AI4S), where tech giants provide compute resources and AI expertise to academic researchers. By bridging the gap between AI development and scientific domains, it could lead to breakthroughs in fields like biology, chemistry, and physics. The program offers roles for Scientist Advisors and PhD Interns for an initial duration of six months, with applications open until September 30, 2026. Selected participants will receive compute resources, close collaboration with the Seed team, and competitive compensation at the Beijing office.
## BACKGROUND
The ByteDance Seed team was established in 2023 to explore new approaches to general intelligence, including LLMs, vision, and AI infrastructure. "AI for Science" (AI4S) represents a paradigm shift where machine learning and deep learning models are integrated into scientific research to solve complex problems faster than traditional methods.
