BYD Teases Humanoid Robot Debut at Di Space in Early August

BYD has released a teaser poster indicating that its humanoid robot will make its first public appearance in early August at the "Di Space" museum in Zhengzhou. This marks the Chinese EV giant's official entry into the physical humanoid robotics market. BYD's entry into humanoid robotics leverages its massive manufacturing scale, supply chain control, and electromechanical expertise. The company aims to eventually deploy these robots in retail stores to assist customers and demonstrate vehicles, showcasing a practical commercial application for embodied AI. While BYD denied rumors of a robot codenamed "Yao Shun Yu" being tested in factories, the upcoming August event is expected to showcase a functional physical prototype rather than just a concept. BYD executives estimate that robot sales assistants could be ready for practical deployment within the next one to two years.
