Former Google DeepMind Staff Engineer Qiyin Wu, a core contributor to the technical reports for Google's Gemini models, has officially joined Baidu. She will lead large language model pre-training efforts for Baidu while remaining based in the United States. This hire highlights the ongoing global competition for top generative AI talent as major Chinese tech firms seek engineers with hands-on experience building frontier models.
