Arrowmax Launches AI-Powered Electric Screwdriver S1 on Kickstarter
Hong Kong tool brand Arrowmax has launched the S1 electric screwdriver on Kickstarter, featuring an integrated camera and machine learning model to identify screw types and adjust torque. Starting at $80, the crowdfunded project successfully met its goal within 24 hours of launch. This product represents a novel intersection of artificial intelligence and traditional consumer hardware, aiming to eliminate guesswork in mechanical repairs. By automating bit selection and torque adjustment, it reduces the risk of stripping screws or using improper tools. The S1 features a contact probe to align its built-in HD camera, a local AI model trained on tens of thousands of real-world images, and a smart storage case with LEDs that light up the corresponding bit. It delivers a torque range of 1 to 10kgf·cm, a 600mAh battery supporting up to 900 screws per charge, and local smartphone connectivity.
## BACKGROUND
Electric screwdrivers are motorized hand tools widely used for assembly and repair work, utilizing adjustable clutches and internal springs to control torque and prevent over-tightening. Kickstarter is a prominent global crowdfunding platform where creators pitch innovative hardware or software projects directly to consumers to raise initial manufacturing funds.
