AOOSTAR Teases NEX495S Mini PC Workstation Supporting 192GB RAM for Local AI
AOOSTAR has officially teased its upcoming NEX495S mini PC AI workstation powered by AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 "Gorgon Halo" processor. The compact system supports up to 192GB of high-speed LPDDR5X unified memory and features a redesigned chassis compared to its NEX 395 predecessor. Providing up to 192GB of unified memory in a small-form-factor desktop allows running massive open-source AI models, such as 70-billion-parameter LLMs, locally without dedicated enterprise GPUs. This approach drastically lowers the cost and power barriers for developers and enthusiasts running local AI workloads. The workstation is built around AMD's flagship Gorgon Halo APU, featuring 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and RDNA 3.5 graphics (Radeon 8065S). Teaser imagery shows that AOOSTAR altered the physical case mold away from the flatter, side-concave design seen on the earlier NEX 395 model.
## BACKGROUND
AMD's Halo APU architecture (such as Strix Halo and Gorgon Halo) pairs high-performance Zen 5 CPU cores with powerful integrated GPUs under a high-bandwidth unified memory subsystem. Unlike traditional PCs where the CPU and discrete GPU have separate memory pools, unified memory gives the integrated GPU direct access to the entire pool of system RAM, which is ideal for memory-heavy generative AI model execution.
