Anthropic Updates Claude Voice Mode to Support Opus and Sonnet Models
Anthropic has expanded Claude's voice mode to support its more powerful Opus and Sonnet models, extending integration to apps like Gmail, Slack, and Canva. Previously, the voice mode was limited to the faster but less capable Haiku model. This update allows users to handle complex business tasks and deep analysis via voice commands rather than just simple Q&A. It enables a more seamless workflow by letting users switch between text, voice, and different models within a single conversation. Users can transition from a quick brainstorm with Haiku to a deep dive with Opus in the same chat session. Additionally, voice mode has officially exited beta for several languages, including French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean.
## BACKGROUND
Anthropic's Claude AI model family is categorized into different tiers: Haiku for speed, Sonnet for balanced performance, and Opus for complex reasoning. Voice mode allows users to have spoken conversations with the AI instead of typing. This update brings the reasoning capabilities of Claude's top-tier models to hands-free voice interactions.
