Anthropic permanently increases Claude Code weekly limits by 25% starting September 14
Anthropic announced that starting September 14, 2026, the standard weekly usage limit for Claude Code will be permanently increased by 25% for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise users. This new baseline will replace the temporary 50% promotional limit increase that is active until September 13. While this represents a permanent upgrade over the original baseline, users will experience a practical decrease of about 16.7% in weekly capacity compared to the temporary promotional limits they have been using. This adjustment reflects Anthropic's efforts to balance resource allocation with sustainable pricing models for its developer tools. Under the new policy, the available quota will drop from 150% (during the promotional period) to 125% of the original baseline. The change affects Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans.
## BACKGROUND
Claude Code is an agentic coding tool developed by Anthropic that operates directly in the terminal to help developers understand codebases, edit files, and run commands. Anthropic has previously adjusted and extended temporary usage limits to accommodate developer demand and test system capacity during its rollout phases.
