Anthropic Officially Launches Claude Code Cloud Sessions with Subscription Credits
Anthropic has officially launched Claude Code Cloud Sessions out of preview for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise users. Existing Pro and Max subscribers can claim a one-time credit of $100 and $250 respectively before October 7 to run persistent coding tasks in the cloud. This launch allows developers to offload long-running AI coding tasks—such as fixing CI failures, resolving code reviews, and opening pull requests—to cloud environments without keeping local machines powered on. It marks an important transition for AI coding assistants from local terminal tools to persistent, cross-device autonomous agents. Cloud sessions execute inside isolated virtual machines and can be pulled back to a local terminal anytime using the `claude --teleport` command. Note that cloud sessions share overall rate limits with standard account usage, and organizations requiring IP whitelisting may face authentication friction on Anthropic-hosted infrastructure.
## BACKGROUND
Developed by Anthropic, Claude Code is an agentic command-line tool designed to understand entire codebases, run shell commands, and automate Git workflows using natural language. Cloud sessions expand these capabilities by running tasks asynchronously in hosted cloud infrastructure or enterprise self-hosted environments.
