Anthropic Introduces "Teach Claude a Skill" Feature in Claude Cowork
Anthropic has launched a new feature in Claude Cowork that allows users to teach Claude reusable skills by recording their screen and explaining the task aloud. This capability is accessible via the "Record a skill" option in the plus menu of the Claude desktop app. This feature lowers the barrier to task automation by enabling programming by demonstration, allowing non-technical users to easily customize AI agents for their specific workflows. It represents a significant step forward in human-computer interaction and consumer-facing AI agent capabilities. The feature is currently available to users on Claude's Pro, Max, and Team subscription plans. It leverages Claude Cowork's ability to interact with the operating system to repeat and generalize the demonstrated actions.
## BACKGROUND
Claude Cowork is an AI agent developed by Anthropic designed to perform office tasks, manage files, and organize desktops. The concept of teaching a system through demonstration is known as Programming by Demonstration (PbD), an end-user development technique that allows users to teach computers new behaviors without writing code.
