AMD Partners with FuriosaAI and MangoBoost for Heterogeneous AI Cluster

AMD has signed a memorandum of understanding with FuriosaAI and MangoBoost in Seoul to build an open, heterogeneous AI computing reference cluster. Scheduled for next spring, the cluster will integrate AMD CPUs and GPUs, FuriosaAI's RNGD NPU, and MangoBoost's BoostX DPU. This collaboration aims to match workloads with optimal hardware components, improving overall compute utilization efficiency for AI workloads. Furthermore, MangoBoost plans to incorporate AMD Instinct GPU accelerators into its AI factory infrastructure. The reference cluster specifically combines AMD processors, FuriosaAI's RNGD deep learning inference NPUs, and MangoBoost's high-throughput, ultra-low-latency BoostX data processing units. MangoBoost will also adopt AMD Instinct accelerators in its broader AI factory deployments.

## BACKGROUND

Heterogeneous computing integrates different types of processors, such as CPUs, GPUs, NPUs, and DPUs, to optimize performance and energy efficiency for specialized workloads. NPUs (Neural Processing Units) and DPUs (Data Processing Units) are specialized accelerators designed specifically to speed up deep learning and offload networking tasks from the CPU.
