AMD Launches Ryzen AI Embedded X100 Processors for Physical AI and Robotics

AMD has officially announced the Ryzen AI Embedded X100 series of processors at the Advancing AI 2026 conference, designed for physical AI and robotics. These chips offer industrial-grade reliability, supporting continuous 24/7 operation for up to 10 years, with mass production scheduled for Q4 2026. This release delivers high-performance x86 SoC capabilities to edge AI and industrial automation, allowing robots and intelligent machines to operate reliably in harsh environments. It bridges the gap between high-performance computing and rugged, industrial-grade hardware. The lineup includes six SKUs ranging from 8 to 16 cores, with the "i" suffix models supporting extreme operating temperatures from -40°C to +105°C. Additionally, AMD introduced Kria AI System-on-Modules (SOMs) and a robotics development platform powered by these new processors.

## BACKGROUND

Physical AI refers to artificial intelligence systems that interact directly with the physical world, such as autonomous vehicles and industrial robots, by integrating AI software with sensors and actuators. A System-on-Module (SOM) is a compact, production-ready circuit board containing core processing components like CPU cores and memory, which simplifies embedding complex computing power into industrial devices.
