Alphabet Raises 2026 Capex Guidance to $195-205 Billion for AI Infrastructure
In its Q2 2026 earnings call, Alphabet raised its full-year 2026 capital expenditure guidance to $195-205 billion, up from the previous estimate of $180-190 billion. Additionally, the company recognized TPU hardware sales revenue for the first time after delivering TPU systems directly to customer data centers. This massive increase underscores the intense financial commitment required to scale AI infrastructure, which has also driven Alphabet's total debt up to approximately $100 billion. The reliance on third-party data centers to meet immediate demand will temporarily impact Google Cloud's operating margins, despite a growing backlog of over $510 billion. Out of the $44.9 billion spent in Q2 2026, 60% was allocated to servers and 40% to data centers and networking equipment. The company's total debt surged from $16 billion last year to around $100 billion due to these heavy infrastructure investments.
