Alipay Upgrades AI Payment Developer Program with Alibaba Cloud Token Subsidies
Alipay has upgraded its "AI Payment Developer Incentive Program," offering up to 5,660 RMB in Alibaba Cloud Token subsidies for developers who integrate its AI payment services. Additionally, personal developers using Alipay's "AI Pay-per-use" billing system will enjoy zero transaction fees until December 31, 2026. This initiative aims to lower the barrier to entry for AI monetization, enabling developers to easily charge for API calls, digital content, or computing resources. By supporting pay-per-use billing, Alipay is positioning itself to capture transaction volume in the emerging agentic economy where autonomous AI agents conduct transactions. The subsidy is unlocked across five tiers based on the number of active transaction users, requiring 50,000 users to unlock the maximum 5,000 RMB reward tier. Developers can integrate these payment capabilities—including web, mobile, and pay-per-use billing—using a simplified "Skill" command.
## BACKGROUND
Alipay recently introduced AI payment processing products designed for the "agentic economy," allowing autonomous AI agents to make and receive payments. These tools include "Integration Skill," which helps developers generate payment integration code using natural language, and "AI Pay-per-use," which replaces traditional monthly subscriptions with precise, usage-based billing.
