Alipay has launched "Yu Lai," a novelty feature integrated into its Abao AI assistant that helps users schedule regular work breaks. Users can activate it by speaking to Abao to set daily break reminders and randomly select a relaxation activity. While primarily a playful promotional feature with limited technical depth, it highlights how major Chinese super apps are attempting to drive daily user engagement and habit formation around their conversational AI interfaces. Built using Alipay's asynchronous task management capabilities, the system allows users to set voice triggers such as "remind me to take a break every day at 2 PM" and assign custom task names. Users must grant notification permissions to Alipay on their smartphones to receive the scheduled push alerts.
