Alibaba Cloud Showcases QwenBook: A Native AI Agent Tablet Prototype
Alibaba Cloud's Wuying team showcased a prototype of the QwenBook, a 2-in-1 tablet-laptop hybrid marketed as a native AI agent PC powered by Alibaba's Qwen models. The prototype features a dedicated Qwen button on its keyboard, a small secondary screen on the rear camera bump, and a desktop interface styled after macOS. The QwenBook illustrates a growing trend of hardware designed specifically around AI agents and cloud ecosystem integration rather than traditional desktop operating systems. It highlights how major cloud providers are attempting to bundle proprietary AI models, cloud infrastructure, and custom hardware into consumer devices. The system includes system-level AI tools such as smart folders, custom email, memory management via MyZone, and deep integration with WPS Office and Alibaba services like Taobao and DingTalk. Alibaba plans to officially release a complete product version around late 2026 or early 2027.
## BACKGROUND
Alibaba Cloud previously developed Wuying, a cloud computer brand that offloads primary processing and computing workloads from physical client hardware to cloud infrastructure. By integrating this architecture with Alibaba's Qwen large language models, the hardware acts as a lightweight client terminal capable of running intensive AI agent tasks.
