Alibaba Cloud Reportedly Developing QwenBook, a Native AI Agent Tablet for Productivity
Alibaba Cloud's Wuying team is reportedly developing QwenBook, a native AI agent computer in a tablet form factor designed specifically for office productivity. Powered by Alibaba's Qwen models (including Qwen3.8-Max and Qwen3.8-Flash), the device features custom hardware and a deep integration with Kingsoft's WPS office suite. This product initiative signals a shift among tech giants toward building dedicated hardware optimized specifically around AI agents rather than just adding software extensions to existing operating systems. If successful, QwenBook could pioneer an AI-first ecosystem that merges cloud computing, local agent workflows, and enterprise tools. The QwenBook project is backed by a 150-person team combining Wuying cloud system developers and hardware specialists recruited from top smartphone makers. Built-in applications include system-level audio transcribing, a MyNote knowledge base, and MyZone memory management, with a full commercial release expected by late 2025 or early 2026.
