Alibaba Cloud Launches Third South Korea Data Center, Expanding Global Footprint

Alibaba Cloud has officially launched its third data center in South Korea, expanding its global infrastructure to 30 regions and 104 availability zones. The new facility will offer standard enterprise cloud services alongside six new Agentic AI services, including AgentRun and STAROps. This expansion strengthens Alibaba Cloud's presence in Northeast Asia and supports the growing demand for autonomous AI agents among local enterprises like Naver Z and Gendive. By integrating Agentic AI capabilities directly into its cloud infrastructure, Alibaba Cloud aims to capture a larger share of the emerging AI automation market. The new South Korean data center provides core enterprise services such as computing, storage, databases, and cloud-native containers. The introduced Agentic AI services cover the entire lifecycle of AI agents, including development, deployment, operation, and security management.

## BACKGROUND

Agentic AI refers to artificial intelligence programs that can autonomously pursue goals, use external software tools, and perform multi-step tasks, distinguishing them from traditional chatbots. Alibaba Cloud has been expanding its global infrastructure across Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Western Europe, and Latin America to compete with global cloud giants.
