37 Tech Giants Form Open Secure AI Alliance to Boost AI Security
Thirty-seven leading technology companies, including Nvidia, Microsoft, and IBM, have launched the Open Secure AI Alliance. This coalition aims to build and share open-source tools to secure AI systems and address vulnerabilities. As AI systems become deeply integrated into global infrastructure, securing them against AI-enabled cyber threats is critical. This open-source approach democratizes defense capabilities, offering transparent, customizable, and decentralized security alternatives to closed models. The alliance builds upon the Linux Foundation's Akrites initiative and the OpenSSF community's work to identify, patch, and publicly disclose security vulnerabilities. ## BACKGROUND
The Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF) is a cross-industry forum under the Linux Foundation dedicated to collaborating on open-source software security. The Akrites initiative was launched by the Linux Foundation to defend critical open-source software against a rapidly evolving generation of AI-enabled cyber threats.
